Do note that it has no mast or tiller!! But as Tony says it looks in nice condition otherwise. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/dinghy-merlin-rocket_W0QQitemZ260370027863QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Sporting_Goods_Sailing_Boats_ET?hash=item260370027863&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 |
I'll believe 1959 but not 1969. |
Well, |
Have the decks been painted red too? That's a shame. |
Colin, |
The owner/seller has told me that there is no thwart number but the sails have numbers 854 and another set 901. Those sail numbers suggest either 1958 or 1959 for the build year. 854 was a boat called Miss, a Proctor XI design built by Chippendale. 901 was a Jack Holt build and design (Nellie) boat called Tiercel but without the number it's impossible to be definite and of course the sail numbers may have come from other boats. Some of the afficionados of the Vintage boats may recognise the design with these small clues. Mags - I have also asked about the red/varnished decks. |
Well its a Hilt Boat for certain so how about 901 cetainly notbuilt in 1969 as advertised. |
Now been told that the decks are varnished - NOT red!! |
