Thanks.

Ah - Andy good to hear from you. For a split second I thought someone was actually asking!?

You are very welcome to book a car-parking ticket. It is £20 payable to F M Gifford, but its a 15 minute walk away and you will have to park your car, walk to the club to pick up your ticket and then back to the car, by which time it will have been towed away.

For anyone other than Mr Dalby who is interested in parking for the dinner, the actual parking restrictions around then will be finished by then so park wherever you like (pretty much) usual Ranelagh tide restrictions allowing.

Kind regards to all,

Fran

And do not do what Keith & Jean Steele from Hollingworth Lake did in the 1960's and hit a bit of driftwood and execute a hard right turn into the water!
They got out alright, but I don't think the car was ever found.

It happened in the mid 60s and I was there when Keith and Jean came into the Ranelagh bar in deep shock. As far as I remember Clive Curtis pulled their Cortina GT out the following morning with a Landrover. I guess the car was a write-off. Those baulks of timber were dunnage brought upriver from the docks on the flood tides. Being semi-submerged they were bad news for Merlin Rockets and Nat.12s. With the closure of the docks the river and the Ranelagh foreshore are much safer.

One other thing a glance at tide tables tells us that High Water the night of the 30th at Putney Bridge is about 21.47. So what looks ok when you arrive and may be ok by the time you leave may not be in the interim, an addenda to the PLA site says higher than usual tides are predicted. Good Luck, enjoy yourselves!
