John, I am just filling out my entry and I notice that the silver jubilee cup for boats aged 10-20 years goes to number 3549. My boat is 3550 and was built early 1998 which makes it 10 now and 11 by the time I get to salcombe. Are you sure of the numbers on the entry form?

I would add that there is only two boats this is relevent to!!!

thanks Jeremy

I also notice boats built in '88 are 20 but in '98 they are not yet 10? also notice that 3413 and 3412 are in both 20-30 and 10-20.

Sorry to be a pain I am just unlucky to be on the cusp this year!

Just need clarification before I seal the envelope as to whgich boxes to tick.

Thanks

They were the numbers given to me........................and I have lost my yearbook so I can't actually check it out.

Mike Anslow - if you are out there can you confirm the numbers?

According to the year book 3550 was built in Jan 1998, so according to the normal rules is just 'under' 10 years old for the whole of 2009 season.

Doubble check your build certificate Jeremey, as the year book isn't alway 100% correct. If your build certificate is Dec 1997 then there would be reason to ask for an adjustment.

John, I think 3413 and 3412 have been accidentally transposed. The year book has 3413 in Jan 1988 and 3412 in Dec 1987.

Alan if it was built in Jan 98 it is currently 10 years and 10-11 months old. Therefore should count as in 10-20 bracket for 2009 surely.

You are right. There are several possibilities here - one of them is that I was a bit bleary eyed this morning and infact it was built in Jan 99. And as I am at work I can't check.

According to a Year Book for 2006 which I have at work(!), 3550 was a January 1998 boat

2007 yearbook also says 1998 but also says only 2 boats were built in 1998 - 3550 & 3551. Does that sound right ?

There was only two boats built in 1998 and which ever way you look at it she will be 11 years and some by the time I get to Salcombe.

I think I will tick the box and let them worry about it if I manage to beat the Pirate Dan to the old boats!!

Sorry am I missing something here but with all due respect to entries already received but in the NOR it states that entries drawn on 1st dec will be given allocated spaces from when they arrived? I understand? OK mine is in the post tonight but if 100 entries are received via email before then what is the score?? Please tell me I`m not missing something blindingly stupid cos dont think I have? Cheers and let the Sun shine this year and there still to be some wind but maybe not quiet as much - not often we say that is there Cheers student bum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guy it actually says
"Places for the 38th Salcombe Yacht Club Merlin Rocket Week will be the first 100 entries drawn on 1st December 2008 from the valid entries received by that date. "
so if you send a valid entry by 1st dec, you have an equal chance with every one else.

Also, as far as e-mail entries are concerned, there does not appear to be a way of having a 'valid' internet entry for two reasons
1. the form says 'PRINT'
2. they way to pay is 'CHEQUE'

I collected 3550 from Spud's yard on 18th March 1998 ready to race/sail.

Ok guys, I have it on good authority that She's a Cracker is definately an old girl.......

The Salcombe Old Boat trophies should now read ( and I have altered the NOR and Entry Forms accordingly!):

Silver Jubilee Cup from MR3430 (boats registered 1989 and after)
(10+ - 20 years) up to MR3551 (boats registered before 1999)

Buckden Bowl from MR 3157 (boats registered 1979 and after)
(20+ - 30 years) up to MR 3429 (boats registered before 1989)

"Merlin Rocket" MR3156 and boat numbered earlier (boats registered 1978 and earlier)
(Over 30 years old)

My wife was born before 1977, does this officially make her an old girl.

It qualifies her for Vintage but unless ribbed not a classic. But do bear in mind that at that age she gets the appropriate handicap and in pursuit she gets a head start!!!!

David,
You didn't say how long before 1977 she was born (very wisely)
But I thing our ex chairman would say she was in the 'prime of life' category

Do not worry about her date of birth, concentrate on how long she took to dry out on Sunday!
