we are about to convert to twin poles but we still cant get our heads round it . Is there anyone near Edinburgh with a boat that we can come and have a look at . Thanks . |
Try looking at the pictures in the library area of this site or if that does not help, email me and I'll send some more plus explanatory words but Edinburgh a bit far for a day trip. |
The link below was the one that I was thinking of. http://www.merlinrocket.co.uk/gallery/default.asp?folder=gallery/rigging_guide/3489 |
What Merlin design is 3489, and where is mast in relation to bow and transom? |
3489 according to the yearbook is an I.Holt Canterbury Tales (mod) built in 1992 |
Eddie, |
Garry is correct - 3489 is a Ron Hall built Canterbury Tales BUT this is irrelevant as far as setting up a twin pole system is concerned - the principle is the same no matter what the design. It does not matter what the distances are from bow to mast, etc - these things are never exactly the same and you have to adjust the string to fit. |
We have two boats at Wormit with twin poles, one 3376 set up by myself and the other 3321 set up by Hamish, both similar and work well. You are welcome to look at either if you are in north fife at any time. |
Cheers Callum we will take you up on that and head up one weekend soon . I will be in touch . |
Thanks for all the advice everyone . |
Thanks for the info that 3489 is a Hall built CT. It is that it looked a bit like my boat, and I have a twin pole system that works well. I wanted the other info for comparison purposes, ie deck stepped distances-discussed many times on this forum. |
Hi Eddie, best to e mail, text or call me to check I will be around whichever weekend you are considering. Best number is 07778 665667. |
