Topic : What section is James's (3403) Mast

Some of you will now know of the Earlswood adventure and some of you saw the mast from 3403 The Fridge.
Now James bless him is trying to get sorted for the Bala long distance but is struggling to work out what mast he had.
It was a super spars alloy one hog stepped on a low tank NSM 4.
Anyone who know please post here, thanks.

If you go to the SS web site they give the spec. for the M7 and the M2 spars (the only likely contenders). I seem to remeber the M2 is a couple of mm less wide and more flexible. Just compare the section and the spec.

It's a proctor D.

I'm not sure this in production anymore, the M7 from superspars is the best alternative.

oh, and i'm certain it's a proctor, not a Superspar.

When the boat was new I installed a SuperSpar M1 mast that was purchased from Petr Frampton just before he emigrated to Oz. The business was conducted in the Ferry at Salcombe where his finely honed business skills saw him knock my original offer of £150 down to £100 and he threw in a cover as well! Memory is a bit hazy but there is a vague recollection of fitting a Proctor D later on - so it will be one or the other. And what a wonderful sequence of shots - for the lounge wall!!

Ta ladz for that. am going to ring round and find out the cost of the M7 mast then and send my claims application form in tonight.

very funny scotty. they would look good but think the picture would look better in the sailing club at redditch instead.

is it worth replacing the shrouds when iget the new mast jus incase they have streached?

If they have stetched then that means they are unlikely to stretch any more, most modern 1x19 SS wire is preformed and nearly stretch free.

My inclination would be to replace the shrouds - they are not that expensive and after a wipeout like that it is quite possible they have been significantly weakened.

James keep the spreaders and any cleats etc but replace all of the wire work, it was one hell of a wipe out why risk another 4 week wait for a mast on account of a bit of wire?
