One shroud with 2 strands left, one centre case, one bent ali mast (you can see it bend in the a fantastic series of shots), I Broke my mast, and every one had at least 3 swims, at one point on the first lap of the second race a gust wiped out the entire lake !!. http://www.mbuluimages.co.uk/ |
Maybe i'm glad I couldn't make it ...... ; ) |
Sorry I couldn't make it - though, after looking at the photos, perhapsd not that sorry! Some spectacular wipeout sequences! |
How did that mast not break!? |
First it was a good old ally one but it stayed that shape and was well kinked at deck level (hog stepped). |
If it helps, I've a mast from our old hog-stepped Smokers (2981) - it looks as if it's had a 6 inch plug added to the foot (I'm guessing as to the lenght here - I don't have the mast with me at the moment!). |
funny, 3379 had never capsized before |
Thinking of changing my boats name from finlandia to the pheonix (joking), so far this seson we have a 50% damage ratio on midland circuit events! |
The next failed glue join or event? |
Both, I guess it's that time in the boats life. In a couple of years time most of it will have been reglued! |
I am delighted to read that our much loved 3190 Finlandia is still being sailed competitively and being so well cared for. She was beautifully built by Rowsells and we had many years of great racing in her at Draycote and on the open meeting circuit. Future damage may be irreparable if her name ever gets changed. |
ive orderd my new mast after the other 1 got a little bent out of shape!!! but i have got 2 wait 4 weeks for the new 1 to arrive so giving the boat some tlc so she shud b al fit and ready for loo. |
Mast all fixed now, thanks to Mr Dirty hands. |
