MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : its the boat!

My trainee and his helm did it again.

Biggs and Kennaugh stomed around the Banbury Midland Circuit event trouncing the fleet in races 1 and 2. A long way ahead.

Having won the event, they put forward a second rate team for the third race with crew Kennaugh helming and total novice crew Biggs.

They trounced the fleet.

We are of the opinion that it must simply be the boat.

Others are of the opinion that it must have been my expert tuition of Rob Kennaugh in his early years.

So if you want some help from me come to the race training at Rutland where I will be on the safety boat. Safest place for you some say!!

Steve

It is staggering , and slightly depressing, that the likes of Matt can get such phenomenal performance out of their boats. It was almost as though he and Rob were sailing a different class of boat on the saturday at Banbury, with only Steve and Gill Leney able to give them a bit of a run for their money.

What hope for us mere mortals?

I think that you will find that Rob Kennaugh is quite a bit better as a helm than everybody thinks. He certainly would not be outclassed as a helm by anyone in the merlin fleet. Look at Matts boat however and see exactly why he is as quick as he is! Every thing is perfect and everything works better than any other boat in the fleet. I suppose it helps that they sail it well together too.
