Pebbles used to have a square hoop/traveller, bolted on with internal dies. Now has a round hoop, fixed by the same method. Why the change?

When I bought Pebbles in 2002 she had a round hoop (not fitted) and a main sheet strop down to the thwart. I didn't like the strop as it acted too much like a kicker, so I changed to the round hoop. To my knowledge she has never had a square hoop but I may be wrong.
