Boing!
Still after poles and spiny as 110 ponds per pole is a bit steep and DIY and I are not what you would call housemates :)

Martin - this is one of the easy bits of DIY. Only requires some epoxying of fittings at each end of each tube and screwing in a couple of loops.

Just checked out the carbon tubing 5 meters is around £170 on it's own so chuck in the various bits and the time factor and £110 each dose not look so bad.

Having just done the exact same exercise, Speed are a little bit cheaper than P&B for twin carbon sticks. Jacko more so again. The thing to watch is the carriage (£20 plus).

We had a carbon single pole last season and couldn't end-for-end gybe the thing (just too long) and having watched Scroggie snr at Rock with Glen crewing we were rather taken with the twin pole system. They gybed inside us and were off before we had even got the pole through! Most other boats with a single pole this long retract the pole prior to gybing (505 and the like) or have it on a Spiro type self-launcher.

Thanks Andy, Speed are local (ish) to me so I could go and collect for a gallon of diesel and save the postage, the difference between them and P&B is also about the cost of that gallon.
I am affraid I do not know who "Jacko" is.
