RTYC Graham Donald Trophy & River Thames series final race of 2007

Weather for Sunday is looking possible with wind from a benevolent direction for Putney Might be a bit chilly but we hope to see many of you here. If we get enough vintage boats out we should be able to find a suitable bottle to award.
Club will be open from 11.15am, tides not too high.

Does anyone have the river series results so far?

Who is in contention for a prize and who just needs this final race to qualify?

Thanks

Brian

I believe Mike Stephens has it won, but it would be interesting to see who else could be in contention...?

I am looking at possibly joining the club and purchasing a merlin. Am i allowed to come down and watch the racing and have a look around?

There will indeed be just one race, finishing around high tide which is at 15.01, before we all get swept down the river and out to sea on the outgoing tide!
Look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow.

A well run great sail in a perfect breeze. There were some boats not me, that got lapped by the leader, why not consider finishing them on the same lap as the leader?
There were some very good photos taken will they be available to see again?
Thanks again

Any cheating.....?

I doubt it, unfortunately I wasn't there, still finding crew availablity a diffliculty, but a 'perfect breeze' would mean that very little benefit would be gained by rule 42 abuse.

More wind than you could throw the rule book at! Honestly, it was a joy to behold after the September/October zephyrs on the river. High water was also interesting with a few parked cars getting a bit of a dunking. And judging by some of the helm/crews reactions when getting out of their boats, the Thames water was a bit icy!

Interesting bit of memorabilia from 1976, see if you can tell who came 1st and who came 2nd...?

The sad thing is that I think that I was crewing in the boat that came 31st......................

I came down to watch and was impressed with the standard of the racing. I also managed to get some video footage on my mobile which i am currently trying to edit to put on You Tube for you all to enjoy.

Thanks Nick for your hospitality on Sunday. We really enjoyed the chance to sail on a river for the first time and will return. Although from your report I'm sure we only broached a little, not a full swimming experience from a capsize as you suggest.

sorry if I maligned you. I know I was swimming! I'm working on a video which I hope to put on Youtube in a day or so.

Interesting coincidence that 31 years ago Alan Warren won the RTYC Trophy with John Harris second and last Sunday Alan's son William won and John's son Andy was second.

When starting a sentence with "Interesting" it is very important to make sure that the content /subject is, interesting, and luckily, that was......woof!

Oooh, reading the beginning of that last sentence I thought it was going to be a bit catty. False alarm!

Jolly interesting Uncle Robert, I wonder if Alan experienced the same incredible luck to beat JH that William had at the weekend...?

There are now some more pictures on Ranelagh's web pages as well as a couple of videos. Same video really but the second is about half the size due to editing and lower resolution. I had some issues opening the videos with Vista although they were created on the same computer. Opens fine on the wifes computer with XP.
