Any ideas on how to clean up some of the lower inside planks once stripped of varnish ( too narrow for my sanders)- Is there a good quality - SMALL - sander to be bought? Perhaps a cabinet scraper or is that thankless job of doing by hand !! Do tell me there is an easy way !!

There is a B&D Mouse Sander which works quite well

I also use a Bosch Palm Sander

Scarston scraper and don't forget to round off the ends of the blades a bit and keep sharp and a decent burr with saw file.

Skarsten scrapers are not available anymore but Faithfull (sic) make virtually identical tools and they are readily available

I was told that Faithfull took over the design...
The replaceable blades fit the Skasten scrapers.

Hi Ben, I have found that an old fashioned heart headed hand scraper with a good burr works well in awkward corners and (although it sounds drastic) a sharp plane blade or wide chisel blade dragged backwards at about ten degrees from the perpendicular and with the grain produces a smooth finish with little risk of losing control and taking off too much veneer. Have fun!

Hi Sandvik make the best scrapers ever, replaceable carbon steel blades, different widths, triangle and rounded models, not cheap but the best, B&Q may have them or a Dulux decoratr centre

Thank you all for advice so far. The operating distance is 95mm so I will start looking for a sander in the first instance.
