MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Hampton Opens

Hi all,

It’s the Hampton Open meetings this weekend, Vintage on Saturday, and the main Merlin event on the Sunday (which the vintage wing are more than welcome to stay for). There will be the Vintage wing prize giving on Saturday evening followed by a curry, then watch us thrash the South Africans in the rugby, all to be washed down with plenty of London Pride!

The forecast by the way is for sunshine and a bit of breeze.

If you could let me know by Wednesday evening if you’d like to be involved in the curry, if you’re definitely going to come along, or even just thinking about it would be a great help for organising food and beer etc.

See the link below for directions and stuff…

Any question or the like, give me a call – 07812 524091

Cheers, Tim

After last weekend's race would everyone please watch for infringements of rule 42 - PUMPING.
Helms moving into the boat then onto the side pulling the boat upright hard when not tacking, crew movements, helm almost throwing themself out of the boat on coming out of a tack, thus righting it vigourously and gaining speed, masts that are almost constantly swaying from side to side rather than the still and vertical of others.....

Thanks guys who've replied and emailed, but please do let me know if you are thinking of coming along, particularly visitors as I have no idea for the catering numbers otherwise...

I really would appreciate your responses by this evening as I have to order food imminently!

Cheers.

We've decided not to come as the wind forecast is so light and access is a hassle with a 2.5m camper which also needs fixing before another long journey - only just got back last week. Shame to miss the last one but we've been to the majority of the Vintage series.
Enjoy it anyway.

Should be a great weekend, the forecast looks OK but not as amazing as last years open! Lets hope the party is given a kick start by the rugby score! Come on England!
Please let tim know if you are coming because it really helps for organising the catering.
See you at the weekend.

I'd like to come Saturday if anyone has a small child or dog who could crew for me. How about it Dudley?

Rubbish wind forecast 0-4mph from about the South, Cloudy Sun though. Contrast to last year!

Unfortunately, it was the same last weekend for Tammy's inaugral Merlin vintage/Thames serie double. Oh well, plenty of prayers to the wind gods may do the trick for next year.

Forecast may be rubbish, but the party should be good!

Exactly, at least I'll be able to light my cigarette without resort to a windbreak.

Who cares about the wind? I just want to get in a boat - each time I have tried recently, exploding cars and bovine diseases have contrived against me.

Mags, I wish you better luck this time!
You deserve it.
However I wouldn't be me, if I didn't point out that Foot & Mouth (So my daughter aka "The Vet" tells me.)is not exclusively Bovine and affects ALL cloven hoofed animals, Cattle, Sheep, Pigs, Llhamas,Alpacca, Deer etc.

Are Llhamas Welsh freedom fighters?

By: Garry R
No, you are thinking of Llhezbolla.

I am aware of that! Even humans are not immune from similar diseases - apparently I had "hand, foot and mouth" as a child.

By: Mags
Foot in mouth is an exclusively human disease.

The Vet tells me humans can catch Foot ANd Mouth as can all mammals but it's not serious nor apparantly to the Dali Llhama!
