Well, the Merlin band (name to be decided) has its first gig! It'll be the Monday of the champs. Dangerous Dave is the real driving force behind the outfit, and will be bringing his extreme drumming style to bear. Yours truly is playing the slide trombone, and we have others in key positions all lined-up.
But, we are sadly lacking in the vocals department. If anyone out there has a hidden talent, then please let us know. We're aiming to do a wide selection of music, covers etc, and will be a sax/trumpet/trombone + rhythm band.
Let us know!!

Vocals - obvious choices MC Calvert and Dirty Hands Scott.
Awesome duo...
Need to reflect on female talent, though...

I'm sure that I spotted one of those Spice Grills at a Merlin BBQ - perhaps you could ask.

Trombone, sax? --- The Silver Trillers!!!
Posted: 09/10/2007 14:09:49 By: Garry R |
No, it was Mike Batt that was a womble.....musical director anyway!

I remember is correct, both Mike and Dick were Wombles. Dick was, I believe, Orinoco.
However whether this is an inidcation of vocal talent could be a matter of debate..

Give Katie sa call if you need lead singer (and/or bassist)

Mike Batt (Dick's musical brother) was sued for penning a piece in pastiche of the famous 4:57 (is that the right duration?) of a certain Mr Cage. Both pieces featured a specified length of silence, but apparently Mike's was scored for different instruments.
I don't think the courts thought it an important distinction.

well seeing as how we need both a singer and bassist then Katie sounds promising! However, I'm not sure that I know her. Does Mr Downham?

Is her surname Melua - Dick and Mike Batt again could put in a word!!!

Singer and Bassist? I'm both but not at the same time! (I'm also old and grey so not quite in the image of the band - methinks!)

I'm sort-of-young and sort-of-grey, and play the bass...

sounds like the job should be yours, Mags. I wouuld also endorse Dirty Hands on vocals - He has the voice and the Charisma for a front man.

Sure I heard Mike Batt mentioned on Radio 2 this morning at about 10. Anyone else hear it? They had Katie Melua on as it happens
