Topic : INLANDS IS DEFINATELY OFF - COOKHAM PART AND SAILING IS ON

I have had confirmation, from the animal health office that the protection zone has been extented, which now means QMSC is fully inside the protection zone.

No event can be carried out, and the protection zone is likely to last weeks and weeks before an all clear.

The MROA will consider whether we will postpone to another date or cancel for this year, once we get over the disappointment.

Meanwhile Cookham Party IS STILL ON and luverly river sailing will take place in one form or another.

Cookham is open and will welcome all-comers to the party which is DEFINATELY ON - please come and enjoy!

I suggest turning up at Cookham for an event. We could organize a mini inlands on saturday before the big bash. The bar will be open and the food is booked for 7.30

Sunday is bit more difficult because there is club racing (2 races on sunday morning - 50 extra boats will sharpen up club starts!)- and a trophy race in the afternoon called the 'Harbour Cup' which is for members who haven't won anything before. (None of you lot are eligable for that)

Has anyone asked Datchet if they could run the Inlands? It is only a short distance from QM. Is Datchet in the "exclusion zone"? People could very easily do Datchet if they were coming to QM and go on to Cookham for the social.

Datchet is also Thames Water and is therefore closed by them as a result of QMSC.

We did consider the possibility.

i think it might be quite a task for datchet to organise all the different aspects required to run an champs at short notice!

Sad news, but very glad I sneaked a look at the forum before heading off!

Is it possible to reschedule the Inlands at a different venue?

How about Frensham Pond as an alternative venue? Lovely location and only a short hop down the A3/A31.

What time will the first race be at Cookham tomorrow?

Cookham bar will be open from 12 noon.
First start about 1pm, group system if enough entries.
Will it count for 'the grand slam'?

For those who don't know the way: Turn into Berries Road at the end of Cookham High Street - beside 'The Crown', opposite the war memorial. At the very end of Berries Road is the Sailing Club. SL6 9SD if you have a sat-nav.

Anyone at a loose end is welcome at Whitstable. Sunday is 1400 start from the committee boat. Race officer assures me of full on course! Saturday is more leisurely from the club line at 1400.

Didn't envisage this weekend at Frensham, but at some point in next month or so, seeing as the Thames Water foot/mouth exclusion zone will probably not be lifted for at least that time.

nice! we'll be there at cookham and then go to sail at shoreham on the Sunday. as long as you leave cookham by 8 you should probably get to shoreham in time. as long as you're sober enough to drive of course....
