People: The following has been posted on the QM sc website and confirmed by conversation with QM officers. It implies that the Club may not be available for the event but we will not know this for certain until late afternoon, perhaps not even then.
I will keep you informed.
FROM Queen Mary SC FOOT & MOUTH - URGENT Posted: 28 September 2007 Friday 28th September. Please note that the Club was closed this morning to ALL access. This is as a result of a sheep at Wraysbury Reservoir testing positive for Foot & Mouth. It was a single sheep from a large herd of sheep so it is hoped that it is a false positive. A retest is being carried out and we hope to get an answer this afternoon (Friday 28/09/07). If the result is negative then we may be able to reopen today. If it is positive then we may be closed for some time. We have no access to the grounds or clubhouse so we cannot access any IT systems or information. As soon as I know the result of the retest and the situation with regard to the Club I will post it on the website Paul Schroeder

Hmm not great news!
I hate to say this but if we don't have a go ahead by a certain time tonight are we going to postpone the Inlands? Not sure people what to do a 3-400 mile round trip if not going to happen.
Current BBC forecast is for 7-8 mph winds over weekend (see link). http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=4583

if we get the confirmed closure, event will be cancelled
if we get no confirmation we will take a pragmatic view about the likelihood of QMsc being open and notify on this site.
if we get confirmation of reopening, no problem to carry on as planned.

We have now had confirmation from Thames Water that all reservoirs will be closed this weekend.
The Queen Mary event for the Inlands is therefore cancelled.
I urge you to support the efforts of the Cookham team by coming along for some sailing and the party.
Thank you to Alan Fuller and Mike Anslow for following up the information flow with the various authorities.
