Topic : measurement certificate

I know I have spent some time building the old boat back up and trying to get ready for the inland champs, but I have done nothing about the paperwork I got with the boat when i purchased it.

Certificate is from 2003 if I send it off I may not get it back in time for next weekend , how valid is valid when used in connection with the sailing instructions ?

Send it off.
Get confirmation that the RYA have issued a new one by calling them, and if it's not back just sign a declaration to produce,(As long as it is issued.) sometimes the Regatta Ofice asks for a small deposit; usually not. The RYA are both quick and helpful, they might even fax you a copy. But if they get it Monday it's a very good bet you'll get it back for next w/end. Don't forget to send the money though!

If you haven't got a certificate and they don't have you on their record books (as for 111 and 252) and you want one and you live in Scotland it is a total problem as we don't have anyone in this neck of the woods to remeasure the boat and or sails. The RYA will however reissue one for a boat without one a certificate if they do have an old record yet the boat could have been modified out of class - it seems weird!! But - once they have the cash they are quick I'll grant them that.

Unofficial comment from the event organiser: if you don't win a prize I don't care about your certificate as long as you are a member of the MROA. by the way, I may give a prize for the first boat without a certificate - which I will immediately withdraw because you haven't got a certificate!!!!!

Thanks all

Alan, I will send it off and turn up with hopefully a new one, so far as if i win anything, as this will be my first class race, for both me and the crew, if i will i don't think i will need a big shiny prize to remember the event

but if there was a wooden spoon prize ?

certificates we can forgive. We know the boats.

might be double fees on the day!

got membership , first thing I did after buying the boat, the boat without this support network would just be another expensive toy sitting in my drive

I think the helmsman should be measured !!! If only to establish whether WFM or WVFM should be his nom de plume ?

Keith,

Contact the RYA. Give them the number of the boat and they will look up the details on their database. If the boat was measured when built then the details will be logged. If not then GGGGGGGGG might have to answer this one but I suspect you would have to have the hull weighed/measured assuming that is you planned to race the baot.

All you have to do is send the RYA a cheque for £25, I think, and they will send you the measurement certificate. Rememeber to send with your cheque your details, address, confirmation of boat name etc, etc. As for sail measurements and hull weight this should already be on their data base but dont worry if it's is not.

Keith, newish boats need to be regularly weighed to make sure they are at least 98kg (see the rules), but I think your's is in no danger of being too light!
