MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Thorpe Bay Silver Tiller 16 September

Once you travelling types have finished with Mr Jacko and his "wet helmet" (I shudder to think) and the "Ronettes" with their Chilli Con-carne at Harlow Blackwater next Saturday - (there must be something funny in the water over there) - don't forget to come along to Thorpe Bay Yacht Club, Pearl of the Thames Riviera, on Sunday 16 September.

Cracking open water venue, large clubhouse overlooking boat park and sailing area - with the added bonus of lots of water (which may be useful for those of you who still have transoms after Saturday's escapades).

Now - in previous years we have been afflicted with some of the worst weather imaginable for this event. After some debate we have concluded that this can only have been divine retribution for the excesses of previous Sailing Secretaries. To this end the current incumbent of said post has been living the life of a Monk for the last few weeks in the hope of breaking the jinx. So please come along and join Brother Christopher (Clarke) on Sunday 16th September for what hopefully will be a very pleasant end to your Essex double header weekend.
Here's a linky thingy to the Notice of Race on the TBYC website

See you there

Just a note to those of you coming along on Sunday, the TBYC galley will be open for food both before and after sailing on Sunday (and during as well!). This is something that we can wholeheartedly recommend to you - the sailing crowd here have extensively sampled the fare on offer and we can tell you that it is of a high standard. In unrelated news it is some years since anyone here has been spotted sailing an Int Moth but don't let this put you off. The meeting is shared with the National Twelves so please don't share this last bit of info with them! Oh and the beer is very reasonably priced as well - hope to see you on Sunday
