Topic : City of Plymouth Trophy

Was the City of Plymouth trophy presented to Chris Downham? My recollection is that it is presented to the winning crew with all races to count. It is not mentioned in the prize list on the Championship website. Has it been lost?

It (City of Plymouth Trophy though not the qualification.) is mentioned in the Notice of Race where might the trophy winners be listed? Silly me I cannot see it anywhere!

Morning Judge,

City of Pymouth Trophy was presented to James Stewart as the highest placed crew sailing in the same boat throughout the championship, as is customary.

He well deserved it!

By not sailing on the last day was James Stewart the highest placed crew sailing throughout the entire championships while the second highest placed crew did in fact sail throughout and gained the same number of points as the winning boat?

The changing room banter on Thursday morning suggested a lot of Tongs-worthy activity took place at Liam and Alex's place if any is true

I seem to recall that the rules about the City of Plymouth trophy were changed some years ago.
Certainly in the NOR there is no mention of any change in the number of races to count for that trophy.
It is true that it used to be awarded to best scoring crew - without any discard. But thats going back to the days when judges wore black caps.
I think the feeling was that the crew of the winning boat deserved the trophy - I agree with that!

As for the tongs - there was certainly plenty of competition (or so I was told)
I think another good reason to come to Looe is to see for yourself - or even join in!

I agree that it's right the winning crew gets it. Bit of a shame though, because I would have won it three times otherwise!
