MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : A day out at Cowes

I was at Cowes Week on Sunday - sailing? Good heavens no, just enjoying the sun, the beer, the music and the birds! The place seemed to be full of current and ex-MR types. For those with longer memories John Shorrock was one of them, he's crewing in a Laser SB3 and looks very fit and well.

Those Laser SB3s have 98 boats racing at Cowes, they look nice but Laser have invented something they call 'sit in bars'. No not posh pubs but rails on the the decks to 'physically prevent hiking'. Jason Stokes (Colin's son) who's crewing David Vines in one says they're giving him a pain in the backside.

I am a little shocked at your blatant enjoyment of the birds Mr Harris. Hope they were polite and well mannered.

Though Bearded ones are in the reed beds of Norfolk and Suffolk.

Perhaps I should have written - 'delicately pale, shy and retiring young ladies' but that would have been a blatant lie!

See www.tamesisclub.co.uk/News.htm for a photo of the previously mentioned SB3 crew drowning their sorrows
