looking to convert a carbon deck step mast to hog step and looking for a bottom section of mast to make an extension.  I was wondering if anyone had a broken carbon mast lying around or a piece of mast that might suit? approx lenght of extension is 550mm.

James there are several hog stepped carbon masts around on old river boats. Be warned that you will reall need to beef up the section that goes through the mast gate as will put on a lot of local strain. A boat builder or Jacko could advise further. Lowers (even fixed ones) may help to support the mast around that area.

On my 60s merlin 1493 we went the other route, adding a carbon king post and converted to deck stepped.
