Found This Adur 8 on the web. It is Number 1692 Hullabaloo but the owner obviously has no idea what it is. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260115916439&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:uk |
I had an Adur 8 - no.1888 in 1967 I think. She didn't perform as well as the Adur 7 - no. 1502 that I had in 1963/64. The 8 was competitive on open water (so was the 7) and planed early and fast but she was not very good on the river unlike the 7 which is still an excellent river boat. |
According to the book Splatter is an Adur 8 and she goes very well on the river. |
Love that it comes with a spare keel!! |
Pretty sure Splatter is an Adur 7 |
1631 Splatter is an Adur 7 and was built for the late and much missed Ned Sparrow. |
1692 Hullabaloo is also an Adur 7. Apologies if this has been on a previous thread. |
seems the confusion over adur 7's and 8's comes from the key in the 2007 year book. 7's are g and 8's are h's against the boat name and number but the key says 7's and 8's are both g. does that make sense? |
Perhaps I can help. |
Tonly Lane would know but wasn't this boat built for Rowan Ayers? |
Yes it was |
Love the name "Ardent Luffer" - was that written on the transom in big letters to discourage overtaking to windward on the reach? |
Perhaps the name was chosen in the hope of winning the Tongs. |
It was the performance of 'Pitta Patta' no 1764 sailed by Royston Comport of Ratsey Sails in the 1965 Championship that persuaded me to buy my Adur 8. I'd have done better to hang on to my Adur 7 two of which were also in the first six that year. That was the last Championship in which any Adur boats finished in the top six. |
