MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Other Merlins in Norfolk/Suffolk.

Hi All,
Have just finished restoring 2957 to her former glory. Over Easter weekend we spent some time driving around Norfolk looking at sailing Clubs.
We visited the three clubs on the list on this site & none seemed to know of any other Merlins in Suffolk/Norfolk are there any out there and if so
which club do you belong to?
Many thanks.

I'm afraid the clubs on the list are ones that regularly run open meetings for Merlins....but that doesnt guarantee any club racing.

Norfolk Broads YC welcomes vintage Merlins as part of their CVRDA racing. Waveney and Lowestoft form a popular combination on one weekend each year (all Merlins), but I dont know what happens there on a normal weekend.

A little bit further South but Brightlingsea Sailing Club in Essex has three Merlins who regulary go out, we also have a weekend at the end of May for vintage Merlins. We have racing all weekend and also Thursday evenings in the summer. Sailing is on the open sea and at all states of the tide.

Bruce has sent his photos to me too, so we have them within the rigging guide now. I was thinking they will be useful to the many people who have an older hull and want to know how to get a newer rig on it.

I'd like to encourage you all to have a look, and write a comment or two - even the things you think are simple and obvious need documenting sometimes, to be helpful for new members. Please!

I daresay the traveller system could spark a little debate off?
