Just to say a big Congratulations to Graham and Jeremy who romped home in style to win the first Pennant Weekend at Hayling Island SC.
It's great to have a second Merlin at Hayling and we hope to encourage other Hayling members into class (which looks very likely) especially now that Graham and Jeremy are there to show off Merlins properly (unlike Richard and I who were 5th).
Well done and we hope to be a bit closer next time !!

This was champagne conditions at a stunning venue, and we thoroughly enjoyed our sailing!

Hi Rod
The fixtures are on the HISC web and there are a few open events, there is an open pursuit race on the 7th May

Rod,
I believe that you can join on a day rate - the numbers arein the year book which I don't have with me - but a call to the club would verify the position.

Hi Rod,
You can day sail, but according to the club book you can't join in club racing I am afraid.
There is, however, two Merlin Opens, and several Open Pursuit Races (including the Glyn Charles), so there are opportunities to race :)
cheers

I have just checked the book again, and visiting boats can join club racing if they have permission from the Marine Manager.
cheers

I guess he is not going to say no if they are trying to encourage Merlins, a supported class at the club? I will check out my diary and post some dates to see if we can join up at Hayling , Iam going to Rutland so Perhaps meet and chat there if you are?

Hi Rod,
Actually, Merlins at Hayling are not a supported class - we have to race in the handicap class. However, I am delighted to report that the class is growing, with the acquisition by an ex Solo sailor at the club of a Winder Mk1. So that brings the number at Hayling to 4. Only another 6 and we can be a supported class.
cheers
