Does anyone know what has happened to xcweather? What are the reliable alternatives? |
xcweather looks fine today (in fact they've had an upgrade and now offer more than just wind forecasting). There was a problem last week which I think was down to the site being moved around by the hosts. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ |
Curious. My server must have blacked it for some reason. All I'm getting is an error message no matter how I approach it. Thanks anyway. |
My real passion is windsurfing, with dinghies a close second. I am out windsurfing at Hayling when ever the wind is up as I work locally.Over a six year period I have compared forecasts with actuals for the Hayling area. For real time information Chimet or Zero Gravity (Kite Site) are the best.Wind Guru 9 km forecast has good corelation with actual but tends to under forecast by about 8-10knots once wind is 25 Knots plus, there is also a tweleve hour delay unless you subscribe, which provides a more accurate picture. For the Hayling area xcweathewr.co.uk is consistantly the most accurate. If you read this in conjunction with the Met office surface pressure animation charts you get good 12 hour picture. The met site also has rain and cloud satellite images which are a great way to see whats comming up the channel over a 6 hour period. |
Managed to sort the problem and am back on. That is a serious upgrade they've given themselves. |
We rely on www.metcheck.com |
Great Site that Met Check, I have added the link for both of the above weather sites to sailfun portal www.sailfun.co.uk |
Try this one. |
Check out Boards magazine forum. There's always a updated weather thread on there. Usually has references to the various forecast types and sources with some explanation. http://www.boards.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=14088&PN=1 |
