The 2nd of april myself and buddies will be leaving portsmouth to hitch hike to amsterdam (dressed as where's Wallies'), this is an organsied event by the Student Union for a number of charities including testicular cancer. If you could dig into your pockets and sponsor me anything you can that would be great by either posting here your sponsor bid or emailing me. Note: 100% of sponsorship money goes to charity, and we will be doing a video diary. If you need anymore info just let me know. |
good luck mark!!! The Bahamas Supports you!!!! man what an awesome road trip/life experience it is going to be!! good stories for the lads at the bar on the silver tiller!! Go Wally!! |
Portsmouth-Amsterdam; this is tame stuff! In the 60's at Liverpool we had a charity 3 day hop, as far away from Liverpool as you can make it by hitching in 72 hours. One guy got to the Azores, but had big trouble getting back again. Another stunt was releasing a minibus load of students dressed in prison grey with the arrows on & empty pockets, midnight outside Dartmoor prison. First back to L'pool won. |
Don't burst the guy's bubble! Not everything was better in the 60s...good luck Mark! |
Can I sponsor you in gravy bones? |
No Dudley, get you dada to put his hand in his pocket! |
Actually, Dudley, it is for a very appropriate charity given what I think your dada has in store for you, perhaps your dada is thinking of donating yours to testicular cancer research, as well as the tenner cash he hasn't quiet yet promised. |
Zak...Dudley didn't know what we had planned for him...the little bugger will probably bite me when he sees me tonight... |
Surely you mean 'that little mite might bug***r me when he sees me tonight' |
This thread is rapidly becoming the dog's b******s!!! |
Ok, so you are all so tight that you can't put your hands in your pockets. I know, Merlins are expensive to run..... www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |

Good News, its working, $1.18 raised for charity by 8:30 a.m. with only 10 unique visitors so far. Multiply that by a 100 and we will be cooking! www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
$18.50 by 10:30, site is running slow now, victim of its own success I suspect, com eback later this afternoon when the initial rush is over. www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
$24.30 by 12:30! |
A whopping $48.34 by 6pm. Thanks, and keep it up! www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
Getting close to $100, so a last concerted effort, please. I am told I can't ask you to click on adverts just for the sake of it, so please click on the adverts that genuinely interest you. www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
Some very interesting ads there certainly - so much so that I had to look at some of them more than once over the last few weeks - recommended. |
Trip start Monday. Please remeber I can't ask you to click on the adverts, thats against the Google terms www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
Unfortunately Google Ad's didn't like my approach to rasing money for Charity so switched of my ad-account, so I'll have to stump up the $100 you raised by your efforts myself, as they have given it back to the advertisers - I guess I'll have to try a more conventional approach next time (and read the small print). The Web site is still there, with an e-mail link for further pledges. www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
They are back! Some pictures up on the Web Site. Lots more on Face Book, as Mark for details if interested. www.sailfun.co.uk/roadtrip |
