Topic : Hitch Hike Amsterdam 2nd april

The 2nd of april myself and buddies will be leaving portsmouth to hitch hike to amsterdam (dressed as where's Wallies'), this is an organsied event by the Student Union for a number of charities including testicular cancer. If you could dig into your pockets and sponsor me anything you can that would be great by either posting here your sponsor bid or emailing me. Note: 100% of sponsorship money goes to charity, and we will be doing a video diary. If you need anymore info just let me know.

Thanks
Mark Fuller

Portsmouth-Amsterdam; this is tame stuff! In the 60's at Liverpool we had a charity 3 day hop, as far away from Liverpool as you can make it by hitching in 72 hours. One guy got to the Azores, but had big trouble getting back again. Another stunt was releasing a minibus load of students dressed in prison grey with the arrows on & empty pockets, midnight outside Dartmoor prison. First back to L'pool won.

Actually, Dudley, it is for a very appropriate charity given what I think your dada has in store for you, perhaps your dada is thinking of donating yours to testicular cancer research, as well as the tenner cash he hasn't quiet yet promised.

Ok, so you are all so tight that you can't put your hands in your pockets. I know, Merlins are expensive to run.....

So I have sorted it out, how to give someone elses money away!!!!

Just go to the roadtrip site, click on as many google ads as you can, and I will donate all the income raised by your clicks on that channel.

Simple and free, come back often, spread the word, spread the load.

Good News, its working, $1.18 raised for charity by 8:30 a.m. with only 10 unique visitors so far. Multiply that by a 100 and we will be cooking!

$18.50 by 10:30, site is running slow now, victim of its own success I suspect, com eback later this afternoon when the initial rush is over.

Don't forget, you can come back many times, and click on ads again, it all adds up pretty quickly

Getting close to $100, so a last concerted effort, please. I am told I can't ask you to click on adverts just for the sake of it, so please click on the adverts that genuinely interest you.

There are a lot of holiday adverts, so at this time of year you might want to take a look at those, and I reember some Merliners went on teh Ramshackle Rally last year, I see that advert pops up now and again. Of course, only if you have a genuine interest.

Some very interesting ads there certainly - so much so that I had to look at some of them more than once over the last few weeks - recommended.

Unfortunately Google Ad's didn't like my approach to rasing money for Charity so switched of my ad-account, so I'll have to stump up the $100 you raised by your efforts myself, as they have given it back to the advertisers - I guess I'll have to try a more conventional approach next time (and read the small print). The Web site is still there, with an e-mail link for further pledges.

Mark & his Wheres Wally team got to Harwich Monday night, in just 4 lifts, had to sleep in a field as they were not allowed to kip in the ferry terminal. Last night they were reportedly 40km outside Amsterdam in a McDonalds!

If I get photos when they return, I'll post them up too.
