Topic : MIdland Mug Cancelled

Can someone please confirm is the whole event now cancelled or is just the Silver Tiller status that has been removed?

My understanding is that there will be no event on 25th March at Midland, but that a non-Silver Tiller event will be scheduled later in the year. I'm sure someone important will confirm that.

Mags is correct the whole event ie both ST and Midland is off.

I am hoping that Midland will re-schedule later in the year but that depends on water.

And of course Redditch Pond can come over to Banbury on 22nd April as the Silver Tiller status has been transferred to us from Midland and we have lots and lots of water.

It's still not full enough for an ST meeting, though it is better than we though it was going to be!

We have run it in the past with less water but only 20 boats. Last year we had 35, it wasn't full, it got very busy and there is no reason to expect a lower turn out this year. It's also better to have a meeting somewhere that is full and for everyone to enjoy a proper sail. There is always next year.

The decision was made when the water level was too low and inflow levels projected at a certain amount insufficient to achieve a sufficient water area for a large number of deep centreboard boats. Agreed, water levels are now pleasantly higher and had they been at this level some time ago the Midland event would have remained.

Time was required to agree a change in venue to allow Banbury Club and Merlineers to plan their schedule.

Thats the case.
