MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Merlins, Plymouth to Salcombe, crew/helm anyone???

Hey guys.
I'm a first year student at the Uni in Plymouth (don't worry, it's a marine course :P).
To be honest, the Uni dinghy club leaves a lot to be desired, they certainly have no Merlins. As of yet I have not sorted my own boat out down here and I'm desperate for a good sail.
I was simply wondering if there are any sailors down here in Plymouth and Salcombe or the surrounding area, that are in need of a crew or helm for their boat.
I have been sailing Merlins for 3 years, sailing for a total of 8, my boat was a restoration/refit so I know my way around very well. I have predominatly helmed, but I'm most up for crewing as well with plenty of experience in this position. I have a car and a towbar so I can get around and tow if wish to go furthur afield.
I'm mainly into racing but a nice blast around is good too.
Please get in touch if I might be of any use to you or you can point me in the right direction.
Cheers guys,
Martin Summerfield

Hi Martin

Starcross is a bit further up the A38, but as most of the journey is on fast road it doesn't take much longer than getting to Salcombe. We've got a fleet of 10 Merlins at Starcross (plus a couple of people looking for boats) and regularly get 5 or 6 turn out for each club race. I've just taken over as Merlin fleet captain at Starcross - drop me an email or tel (01626) 333865 and we'll see what we can sort out, there is often someone looking for crew.

Regards

Dave Lee
