MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Shameless Advertising - Banbury 19th August

Calling all those boats 3066 and below - come to Banbury on Saturday 19th August for a day of enjoyable vintage racing. Good food, cakes and drink as well as your chance to see if you can go faster than Kate.

Three boats guaranteed from Banbury (or at least they had better be!) so only a few visitors needed to get to double figures.

Send me an email or give me a call on 01926 812694 if you need help with accomodation or crew - we may have several lighweight crews available to the highest bidder.

So that's five. What about Kate, Magician and all those vintage boats that live down on the Thames?

Apologies but we've agreed we'll probably meet up with family in Devon and hopefully take them out at Roadford to revive an old hobby. Have fun.

Thanks Mervyn - I was counting on you. So far we know of three visitors + 3 club. Nice to hear from anyone else that intends to come along just so that we can get the cake organised!

PS Is shameless advertising category A, B or C????

Can't come and join in the furniture rally this year - bit of a shame really, it's the first in 4 years that I've missed. Oh well, stuck in virtually freezing Melbourne A.E.P. checking out yacht clubs in my spare time so can't complain too hard.

Have you finished polishing your old Merlin Big Turnip, you've had it long enough - time it got some fresh air surely?

Will the Levins do the business this year or will Richard extract the digit, take part in the racing and bring home the bacon?

Don't miss it folks, it's really rather a good day............

Tosh

All the old crates that float at the club will be there (or at least they had better be!).

Do you know any at Wenbley or elsewhere that could be persuaded to come up and lend you their boat?

Sorry I can not make Banbury with Magician, i am still having problems with the leak that kept me ashore at the Tideway.
By the way Magician lives in Birmingham not on the Thames

For those who yearn for a bit of varnish (and even a carbon mast) see the photos on the Vintage Merlin Open at Banbury by following the link below.
