Topic : Virtual Salcombe Merlin Week

http://www.virtual-salcombe.co.uk/webcam.cfm
Having raced well in the Merlin 2006 open narrowly missing the capsized boat littering my screen I have just sent off the virtual dosh to John to enter the Virtual Salcombe Merlin Week.
How ever, John can you please get the cam on the Watch house working as it’s not to easy to get the boat mouse in the right spot from the Sunny Cliff Hotel.
Now I know that this is all a bit sad, but the good new is I don’t have to pull my boat and Wiggy up the Mill Beech and it’s always Wiggy’s round in the Kings Head and I always win
I wish you all the best, and miss you lots and for the racing, after me your first

I seem to remember a race where we finished backwards - (well we was going backwards down the fleet) so I won that one.

Just looked at the web cam, it's all black!!! Must be Jackos' spinnaker over it! "OOH! Jacko!!!!"

By: floppy toppy
have just checked it all out, the webcam is working perfectly on my PC - but then I am virtually directly linked to it!!!!!!

There was a black flag draped over it which has been removed (for the first start at least) Not sure why you can't see virtual salcombe and I can't find a virtual person to ask why it virtually never ever works.

I am trying to get it linked to the SYC website, however...................

Mr Jacko
I would like to make it publicly known that, when you eventually pay up, I expect two REAL bottles of red, not virtual ones.
Yours in the Kings Head (from tomorrow night)
Mr John

Mr Jacko

I shall be joining you in the virtual competition.

Mrs Trout says that myself and No. 1 son might be able to do Salcombe next year provided that I have accumulated enough Brownie points, and it wouldn't be right without your happy smiling face there.

How about it?

Jules

JC, you virtually got it right except you have renamed a Salcombe hostilery! Try the Kings Arms (KA) and the doors will be virtually open.............

This wireless internet lark is great. I can now have a poo, read the forum and see pictures of Salcombe. Does life get any better?

Just make sure you don't have your webcam on whilst you're doing it!

Have photo evidence of me in toe straps. Also have photo evidence of shed man hiking in a very dubious fashion! Bottle of red not to publish if no red forth coming will send pictures to JC

For some reason jacko, after a blistering start, hot on your heels, I went the wrong side up The Bag, and ended up coming out of Frogmore with twenty boats in front of me.

The reach back from Gurston was great and a slight consolation. Its always a mistake having a beer on the race with you.

I appear to have an overlap so if it would be possible to have a little water at this mark I would be most grateful (virtual manners in the Merlin class!!)

In your dreams. Will sort this out in the virtual KA 17.30

With impeccable manners I have most kindly telephoned for the Coastguard to tow you in after your most unfortunate collision due to you NOT giving me water at the mark. I do hope that you will be able to get your starbard side completely rebuilt in time for the afternoon race!!

How do you parss a parrot is a regular or an irregular verb?

If I wasnt so busy job hunting I might try to forget about missing out on the real Salcombe, and design a simple web-based racing game for us all to play.

Could set up a random number generator to decide how long you get stuck in 'the bag' and so on...

Lets ban white spinnakers!

William Warren has been going really well all week and has a solid red spinnaker- could have been him.

Yes it it misty here, some one has sent a helicopter up to try and blow it away !
I think I could have been one of those sailors last night !

Mist has cleared, but its so difficult to know whos in the lead. In fact ive no idea. But the boats are pretty.

Posted: 21/07/2006 12:10:17
By: Voyeur
Which is the best camara to watch on then?
What time is the afternoon race?

Posted: 21/07/2006 12:23:35
By: Jeremy3550
I have Virtual Salcombe loaded three times. The best camera should be from the watch house (4)but cam does not work for me. So I use cam 9, 5 and 7. The start is best watched from 5. Spinny runs are pretty from 7.
next start at 2.30. Quite fun to watch from 5 as boats mill around.

Then I have another computer for comments on the forum!

Next year, I want GPS on a leading boat to plot where they are and a forum comment at the start of the race about the course they are doing. Otherwise its a bit of a guess. Could also have an email running commentary?

Posted: 21/07/2006 12:39:24
By: Voyeur
Anybody out there can give some clues as to spinny colours for green/blue fleet top contenders? Perhaps hull colour?
