Topic : New Boats Prize

It has been requested that perhaps next year it would be fairer to introduce a "New Boats Prize" for those attending the Tamesis ST in modern CT's and finding themselves at a serious dis-advantage.

Well done to Willy for a crediatble 5th in a modern boat !!

Hi All

Whats the considered opinion then for the optimal design for just Restricted Waters (reservoir) sailing ?

I currently have a CT mk1 with carbon superspars rig etc.

All up crew weight of 24 stone....

Many thanks in advance

Don't forget that the National Championships this year held in lovely Tenby also have a Vintage 3 day regatta as part of the event so if you want to pit your skills on the sea for a reduced entry fee of £70 then just complete the form and send it to me and book your place on the start line.

Tanmmy was a pumping race anyway, not sailing.

Given the 2nd place for RH I could be inclined to agree (Joke), but seeing as William Warren (who never pumps) came 5th in a CT, I have to suspect sour grapes or a lack of light wind sailing ability on the part of PJ.

There was actually less pumping amongst the top half dozen than in the rest of the fleet - lack of sailing ability by the middle order so it doesn't always pay off! Just *** annoying when someone pumps their way past you, so close they almost land on your gunwhales as they rock up and down then demand water! Nearly cost at least three boats an insurance claim more than once!
I've sailed in various fleets and never seen so much pumping as that. And no I don't make any claims about my own ability , just like to see a fair race sailed by the rules. If pumping's acceptable, put it in the SI's ;-)

It'd be even fairer to introduce a prize for unmodernised vintage boats. Or at least a handicap advantage! At least we didn't have batten problems with our 1971 sail!

Don't worry !!
The vintage trophy was won in an relatively unmodernised boat, Crescendo is nicely done up with new decks etc but still has a very heavy old metal mast unlike all the other carboned up vintage boats in the prizes.
