Topic : Dalgety Bay At Easter - Event Update

Folks, I got an email from DBSC informing me that if we could not guarentee a 20 boat fleet turn out it would be curtains for the Easter Regatta.

Please see comments on the Scottish Frolics thread started by Chairman GGGG.

We need 6 more boats to sign up to hit the target so please help.
At the end of the day the event serves dual purpose.
1. Celebrates the Merlin Rocket 60th Anniversary and the 1947 trip by the class stalwarts. England 1 Scotland 0 - Can we have a rematch??
2. Exposes the Merlin Rocket Class to the wider Scottish sailing scene. Why keep the class a secret? You never know could be a Scottish Champion in the next few years.

Please think about it, pack the boats and head north - it WILL be a great event.
thanks

Trophies are ordered and deposit is paid on the band.

By the way - do people often pop over to Austrilia for the weekend??

I just love Skiing across the outback...

Seriously though - please dont let the event fall apart at the last. If you are free over the Easter weekend 15th and 16th of April, Come to Scotland, have a laugh win a prize. Think of all the ripping yarns you could tell when you get home...

Still five boats short of target for the event......
I know that there must be more Merlin Sailors out there giving the event some thought so please think quickly and sign up.
I have heard that there may be a double trailer leaving from the Wembly area.......

How about a wee surcharge on the entry just to encourage Dalgety Club?

I'm kind of reluctant to increase entry fees or apply surcharges at this time. It has crossed my mind especially if it means we can keep the event going. only time will tell.....

OR a subsidy from a sponsor, suggest J P Morgan who in Scotland as well as England have S - T - R - O - N - G sailing connections. AND if you deduce a MR one too!

Cryptic clues are not my strong point - could you enlighten me a bit

I think he's trying to say ask JP Morgan for some sponsorship as he has Sailing/Merlin Rocket connections.

Entry Form is now available. Please see the event build up page. If possible please send entry forms to me at the address show so that iu recieve them by 17th March. I need bargaining power with Dalgety to keep the event going. Still need 6 boats.

Another point - this event has 90% of the scottish fleet signed up, let try and redress the balance from down south.
4 races over two days, two course meal and ceilidh band function on the Saturday night, great prices and a warm welcome await those brave enough to commit.
see you in April

Good luck, but it does seem a bit picky of them, have they paid in the entry cheques?
Will they refund? Prseumably the social side is still in place come what may? Why not rent - a -rib lay a couple of bouys and run your own regatta if needs be?

Sweet charity is back together in 1 bit ready for the Scottish Easter Event, with her shiny new carbon decks and all. I just need a decent day to put the rig up and check every thing is square.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Dalgety Bay!!!!!!!!!
