If you want to stay in the club, yes, but beware not many people sleep well I'm told, If you are camping less of a problem. If you are B&Bing and don't mind driving a few miles also less of an issue. We have already booked our place in the local village.

If you are staying at the club - which is perfectly servicable accommodation and we have made good use of it over the years - the trick is to drink just enough beeripops to sleep soundly regardless of the slamming doors, without the after effects or the need to be stomping around in the night for the loo.

Unfortunately getting the quantities right requires alot of practice, and I more often than not get it wrong.

More practice required..

Who remembers the Porkins (ex) Dolby Mondeo and what happened in the back of it one year?? And do seem to have a vague recollection of Monseniour Andy using Bog rolls as a pillow one night after someone or another locked him in the Gents???????//

Agree entirely with GGGGGG on this one. Staying at the club, though a little basic, has the vast advantage that after partaking of certain beverages (the effect of which would appear to be to greatly enhance one's impression of one's own skill and ability both at sailing and pretty much anything else; singing, dancing, etc.) the journey "home" is both short and legal. If the dose is correct then even the redoubtable snoring duo of Richard Page and Rob Heath will not affect your sleeping ability. I have been told that even I snore after drinking a certain amount but I am quite sure this is entirely slanderous as I have never heard it. To get a flavour of the occasion you should read the detailed reports of previous training events. The toilet roll thing is perfectly correct. It omits the vital information about AD being at this stage incapable of sustained conversation or having much concept of the vertical, also of the toilet door having sustained damage from another in similar condition (Liam?)

You could try the "family room" concept. Unless this has been changed from a couple of years ago when the Pages and Heaths attempted it, you will have to be very friendly. The room was a corridor of about 5ft6 width with a pair of bunk beds arranged down a wall and the world's tiniest shower room at the end. It made the facilities on a 24ft mini-tonner seem luxurious. However, as Guy said, the evenings are generally less remembered than the days. Go for it, but also for some reason at least 4 out of 5 times it has been completely bloody perishing, so even though it is nominally in Spring, pack the drysuit and thermals!!!

Was at Rutland over the weekend, and having booked my own accommodation there, feel ok about letting you know that there are still rooms available.

I undertake to bring some lube for squeaky door to the disabled toilet in the accom block - it has squeaked for 6 years to my certain knowledge, which will improve the quality of sleep for everybody.

The club is all geared up for the training, the caterers are still the good crowd who were there last year, the grub at the Wheatsheaf of Saturday was excellent, Haddock on a tagliatelli bed with a creamy leak sauce, oven baked to perfection. The Tiger was as good as ever, 4 pints and a walk back did the sleeping trick.

Get your entries in now..

Ah yes, the Tiger!!!

I like the Tiger.

A few of those and a walk back to North Luffenham does the trick too!
