Topic : MR 3280

Any body know any history of 3280. I bought it of Roy Axford before last season but who had it and where did it come from before that? Has it won anythiong major in the past?

No record of 3280 winning either the Championships, Salcombe Week, Inlands or Silver Tiller. Closest number was Family Affair No 3283 with P.V.Blake winning the Inlands in 1982 (but that's like saying I nearly won the lottery because my next door neighbour won £50!!)

Pat and Roger won the champs in Family affair that year too. That was Pats return to the Merlin class after his Olympics in 1980 fell apart. He did have some results that year though as he borrowed my dads boat Panatella and won the Champs in that aswell. Is there no stopping the man!

Don't know anything about 3280 though i am afraid What is the boats name?

MR 3280 Plumbline was built in 1982 by Rowsell Bros. in Exmouth (where it very seldom rains)and she is a Phil Morrison designed NSM 2. Her first owner was G.White of Leeds S.C.
The 1990 YB shows her change of name to Plum Crazy and owner to R. Axford of Bolton S.C.
The only other change shown in the YBs is in 2005 to Nigel Wrigley again at Bolton S.C.
She will have been well built, potentially very quick and with only 3 owners in 25 years, she has probably been a very well loved boat.
