Hugh,
If you are looking for a professional to paint your boat then I would recommend a chap called Steve Jeavons. Steve works with Laurie and along with boat building does all the painting and varnishing, by hand! He has always varnished/painted my boats and the result is first class (mirror like). Steve can be contacted on 07976 536922.
Alternatively you have Ian Lovering at Ashdown Marine. Not entirely sure of his number but you can visit their website I think www.ashdownmarine.co.uk He is based in Southampton. Ian too is a first class builder/repairer........etc,etc
Good luck
Richard

Sorry!
Laurie ....is Laurie Smart. Well know Merlin builder, sailor and all round smashing bloke, etc, etc. For an example of Steve's painting/varnishing workmanship have a look at Pat Blakes boat 'Smart Tart' 3640 which Laurie built. You will be hard pressed to find a brush mark!

If you want, I could ask my other half to quote - he's a professional painter and carpenter and he painted our merlin beautifully! We're also only a hop away in Wiltshire.

Yes but watch him carefully he's a bit to liberal with the paint for my liking.
