You still have the period boom length that was in fashion when your boat was new. The fashion for jib : main ratio changed with the move to a deck stepped rig, people wanting a longer boom for offwind power and they achieved this legally by moving to a smaller jib.
The "general" rule, though there will be variations, is 2503 foot (deck step) goes with a 2.8 sqm jib. A 2400ish foot (one of the more common hog step) would go with around a 3.1sqm jib.
Thats the simplified version anyway - when you start playing with luff lengths you get through a few can openers! Fortunatley the luff length, having been through numerous variations, has now been stable for a long time. I don't think it's changed since the low tanks came in actually. (The latest sails i've seen with a differant luff length were off Bananas, 3211 which must be one of the last high tank boats built)

might have a suitable mainsail - as good as new, only used half a season. Lent it to a friend who has since sold his boat. I'll find out if he's still got it in his loft - matches a jib size of 3.1 sqm
