Could I ask those seasoned MR owners - where is the best place to locate a couple of drinks holder frames or a netting bag to stow bananas and drinks for long day sea sailing events ? |
Depends on the design! In my old NSM2 i had a couple of bike bottle holders on the inside of the hoop. Worked really well and they are completly out of the way. In the newer boats the lines for the hoop top traveller go up there so you can't do it. |
Drinks holder, under the deck starboard side, near the hull, the V formed there also stops the bottle slipping back. Drink for the helm just stuff behind the boauncy bags. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Waterproof-Tri-Laminate-Dry-Storage-Bag-Sack-Small-NEW_W0QQitemZ8726739681QQcategoryZ36109QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |
Yep - those are great - I am diabetic and need to carry some Mars bars and it keeps it all dry (in fact they were there for the whole season and survived capsizes too!!) |
Waterproof chest pocket on your spray top gives easier access to mars bars. Cruicial in waves where you darent let go of the tiller too much. |
P.S. Also ask Ross as he seems to be an expert in 'losing his lunch'... |
thanks for the responses guys. |
The trick is to stop sailing when you eat your lunch - 'Heave to' -although probably not recommended for Ross (pun there I'm sure). http://www.tmca.nu/links.and.features/Heaveto.html |
p.s. the Texas description includes lashing the tiller - no need to do that, just wedge the tiller extension under the bouancy bag to keep the helm over. |
I had heard that Ross uses the "Heave Three" technique!!! |
Elastic it round the hoop. Works perfectly for me. |
I believe Linton Jenkins makes a carbon bottle holder. |
Of course a Camelbak type water bottle strapped to your back would be nice and convenient, and(whoops)perfectly legal, n'est ce'pas? |
I'm not sure it is entirely legal. Comes under the weight jacket thing I think. Might be wrong though! |
