As Natt has declared the winter too cold for sailing (although I'm sure she will have a few exceptions), I might actually get a chance to helm Chambulls for a change, if I could find a willing crew/victim.

Not sure which winter series, and to that extent any volunteer crew could provid einput to the decision. The choices I think would be Chichester, Wembley or Thamesis. My preference, I think, would be Chichester.

Alan, come to Tamesis, you know it makes sense. Biggest Merlin fleet around with competitive racing and excellent catering/beer etc.  First Sunday race for the winter series is 6 November.  There's an all-in handicap race at 10.30am followed by the Merlin class race at approx 11.15am.

As an aside, don't forget (and this is to all Merlin sailors out there) Tammy's Merlin Open this weekend - Thames Series event with three races, first race 11am.

I'll come if you can find me a crew for Sunday!

We should be able to find you a crew if you want to come to Wembley - You can stay all winter. Two races (10am and 12) each Sunday morning Merlin/MRx class start with great competition and plenty of boats. 

You can keep your boat onsite for a small Winter membership and berthing fee.

I'll see what I can do Alan.  Will ring around tomorrow morning to see and will let you know.
