Topic : Merlin 2792

Fantastic response to the info re Merlin 3001. So good in fact that i would love to have some info on mine. I picked it up as a bit of a wreck from Newbury. The Boat was a bonus. i actually wanted the trailor!!. It is now fully restored and looking wonderful. Won a few races this year as well!!. Imaging how well it will go next year with new sails. The present ones are the original...31 years old!!!
Love to find out info about 2792 if anyone knows?

Built 1973 Called Old Scoots (sounds like a severe affliction!!) Ghost Rider design. Builder was C.K.Matthews of Warsash - all according to the yearbook.

Thanks Garry. I know it has been a hard sailed boat but still in great form. Nick

Although it was built and owned by Mr Clive Matthews, it was sailed by Graham Pike and Patrick King at Hamble and was initially registered in their names. Mr Matthews sold it in 1976 or 1977 to M D Field also at HRSc. By 1980 it was owned by P. Bates of Newbury and the trail goes cold from there.

Thanks Tony and Garry for the information. I got it from a friend of mine who is not such a confident sailor. Saw it and thought. a good family boat. Wide = stable!!!. Took out his newly acquired wife in his newly acquired boat. Capsized off Southampton. Boyancy bag popped out and had to be rescued by RNLI (Offshore wind) Just avoided newly acquired divorce papers and the boat was left on its trailor for at least 5 years outside.
Boat in bad condition so he gave it to me. (I wanted the trailor for my boring family GP14) But fixed up 'old Scoots'. Looking good now and a fast little devil.
Thanks for your input.
