MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Merlin 36 Sails Again

Merlin 36, beautifully restored by John and Lyn Gardiner and Chris Barlow (6-Iska and 507-Sprite Full) had its first launch at the CVRDA rally at Roadford Lake last weekend. 36 was bought in 1946 by one Ian Proctor whose sailing of this boat led to many now classic Merlin designs.
The event saw fine weather and fair winds, allowing a number of vintage Merlins an excellent weekend.
36 will make its next appearance at the CVRDA event at Bowmoor Sailing Club near Lechlade on 10/11 September. More vintage Merlins are welcome - go to www.cvrda.org and select the forum events section for more details.

I'd like to post some pictures of 36 but can't work out how to get them onto the forum. ???

Hope we will also see her at Banbury Vintage Open on 17th September. Last year, we hosted 11 boats and this year, I hope that we will get more. So far, I know that Kate(no1) and 111 will be there plus 3 from the club.

If anyone wants details of accommodation or wants to know anything else, either email or call me on 01926 812694 /0798 4430055. The food is always good and you will enjoy a good sail.

I've sent in some photos of the restoration of 36 Terrapin.
Ian Proctor sailed her to third place in the First Nationals.
By the way the Green cotton sails she is using were off no.176 and are from the tall rig (25ft mast)
