Hi all

Can anyone recall the website for Exposures to check out the photos they took, as should be uploaded by now.

Cheers, Ross

I don't understand why its taking them 2 weeks after the end of Merlin week to sort this out. Surely by the 29th it will becomming a fading memory for many. Oh well - their loss.

Its great that so many commercial photograhers took an interest in Merlin Week - however it would be nice if they had the courtesy to at least tell the organising club that they were around. 2 asked for permission to come (Peter Newton and Ex!posurers) the rest, well I will leave that one alone. Would they turn up at any of the inland venues and go on the water without permission? I doubt it!!

I guess if you hold your meetings in a public place with open ecccess there is little you can do
if The Great and the not so Great and Good and not so Good can't stop being doorstepped and hounded a little innocent photography of pretty yots ain't doin' a lot of harm. It does hurt though to be used as a dust cover without being told and sent a copy gratis!

people love seeing profesional images of themselves sailing (especially at a holiday venue as beautiful a salcombe), as long as the photography boats didn't get in the way i don't see it as a problem, its charging £25 n £40 for a inkjet printed photo (from a digital camera) thats the problem.

Dunno, but like so many web sites its needs insight to navigate V Clever no doubt but hardly user friendly unlike the MR site which is an example of good web design. Anyway since its undoubtablt a commercial site it's their loss.

I emailed exp!osures to find out what was happening. The reply goes something like this:

- Shift from shop to virtual because shop was getting congested with customers.

- Non-appearance on website after 2-3 weeks due to
a) general seasonal workload
b) quantity of photo's taken
c) time consuming need to label & number photos before uploading

- revised release date: "hopefully towards the end of this week"

Well they must be good?

I think to let another week pass really begs the question has the cart come and gone?

Hey ho.

They're idiots, we don't need any labelling.

E.g. Guy with collered lifejacket crosses 3573.... we can see that it's obvious

However some people do have Professional Standards, and since this is "what they do" I expect they are getting it right. Just like boatbuilders where as we all know the only boat builder who ever delivered on time and to budget was Noah and then only because God wouldn't grant an extension. (Only joking theses days they are not bad on deliveries if a little elastic on budget!)

I think they are missing out on the time value of money. i.e. whilst on Holiday at Salocombe money seems to be less important, now at home in from of the Pc I think I'm less likely to buy on impulse.

I agree, there is a time dimension here. It follows that the longer you leave it to release the photo's after the event, the less you'll sell. Having bought some photo's from the man upstairs at SYC during the week (all indexed nicely)I'm less likely to buy from Ex!osures a month later. And why can't they even post here to explain/apologise to their customers for the delay?

Never mind

A look at their web site suggests that this was hardly compared with the rest of their business likely to impact the bottom line one way or another, ans was probably a favour rather than a commercial operation before demanding things we should pewrhaps remember that.

exposures always take ages and are much too expensive, they call themselves professional, I don't think taking this long is professional. I usually try to get my images up within 2 to 3 days at the most

Salcombe is a fading memory once the Nationals are on. No business sense or perhaps knowledge of the Merlin Rocket event calendar!

I've received my contact photos but can't open the files! They all have red crosses and double clicking gives the message " unable to open".
Any suggestions??

Like almost everything else in Salcombe a rip off.
