Topic : Scorpion Spinnakers

I've heard a rumour that certain Scorpion spinnakers will measure under our new spinnaker rules. Does anyone know if this is true? If so what measurements do we need to check? If this is right it might be a good source of used/experimental sails for those who can't afford new.

It is perfectly possible since we now work to an area rule; I have not tried to do it but it would be an interesting exercise. Our rule is 0.25(L(0.5F + quarter height + half height + three quarter height)) - see ERS for definitions of the measurement points and let me know how you get on!

I don't know about their current spinnakers, but the late 1980s one on my old Scorpion was almost exactly the same dimensions as the Rowsell new rules Merlin kite I was using last season.

According to their homepage their kites are 11.4 m² Doesn't say dimensions though.
