At moment have rigged all of boat successfully bar the spinnaker, have a hole in deck (existing, didnt play with saw without knowing!) for a chute but only a fague idea as to suitable arangement for the chute and spinnaker for a merlin. was wondering if any one could some advice or post some photos for me, as the rigging guide appears to be lacking in clear guides to spinnaker arrangements.

I have photos 'waiting to go' on the spinny poles - will try to get them up soon.

Are you familiar with the arrangement on the tail of the halyard that leads through the chute?

Try having a look at this page which I put up on a web site of mine last year to help somebody else.  I believe that Mags is going to put this up on Merlin site with some amendments.

...just to give the standard forum reply on this one.  Nothing beats actually looking at a boat that is set up correctly with all the string in place.  Where are you?  Try contacting the class rep of the local fleet.

I think you are worrying about the hole in the foredeck not apparently leading to anything to stick the spinny in when down.  This is standard practice, it will sit quite happily on the top of the bow tank till its string is pulled again for it to go up.  Arrangements have changed over the years - the sail number of your boat would help.
