Topic : Clew Torpedo Thing

I've got a sail to try which has a clew cringle for a carbon boom. My ali boom has a track. Is there some kind of torpedo thing I can fit to make it work or should I get my friendly local sailmaker to change the cringle for me?

clip your outhall on and just tie the clew end down to the boom ( as you would on a laser )leave it just loose enough for outhall to slide!

In my case the local chandlery had a good selection of plastic sliders designed for the slot in boom or mast. Fitted and worked a treat, and cost pennies. You may not want to travel to Inverness, but suspect your local one will be able to help in the same way.

There is a metal "torpedo" with a small loop on top that sailmakers fit to non-loose footed sails. I would be slightly concerned at using a plastic slide as the pressure on it when the kicker is pulled on is enormous if not more!!!
When I snapped my carbon jobbie and used my spare metal boom I just tied the clew around the boom with a bit of string. The same as with the carbon boom. It was also on the section of the boom that was cut away but it still seemed to run OK. Just keep an eye on it chaffing the line...
