I would like to point out that all this practising , sail / boat tuning , knowing the racing rules, teetotaling and going to bed early is just plain cheating.
Any self respecting sailor knows that the only legitimate way to race(normally only once a year at Salcombe) is as detailed below:
1. Locate boat at home club which was stored somewhere last year. 2.Arrive at Salcombe. 3. Assemble boat ie put up mast. 4. Can't be bothered to practice so tow over to beach and dump there until tomorrow's race. 5. Arrive in Fortescue consume vast amount of alcohol 6. Have lunch 7. Rest of day / evening a little difficult to remember but certainly involved a lot more alcohol. 8. 2.00am wake up urinating into your crews kitbag. 9. Wake 9.00 am with the most terrible hangover ever imagined .......deny any knowledge of why all your crews clothes are soaking wet. 10. 9:45 arrive on beach , hangover still incredibly bad, rig boat using all the parts you can find and launch. 11. Race beating as many cheats as possible......projectile vomiting ensures lots of water for mark roundings.
12. Repeat steps 6 - 11.
