I read with interest the recent article by GT about how to best set your mast up when sailing an RS400. He appears to favour the simplicity of the RS over the complexities of the Merlin, and in particular the much greater offwind performance of the 400, especially when compared against the Merlin.
The culmination of the article was a rhetorical question as to whether the 400 has become the new Merlin, especially as plastic has become the norm in modern dinghy sailing.

I agree, So what if the 'Chelsea' of the sailing world want to buy plastic instead of wood. It really winds me up sometimes. If plastic was that bad, don't you think they would have thought twice about building the Reliant Robin?
