As in strands thereof?

I always assumed it came as a woven mesh.

Yes, strands thereof.

Basically the boat is 'Scantily Clad'3560/61?!. The bare hull/decks were built by Laurie Smart, about 3 years ago for Steve Neal of Fibrefusion. Not one of Lauries happiest of boat building memories!

Steve fitted the boat out with carbon thwart etc, where class rules permit. The foredeck was made up high density foam epoxy coated and reinforced with carbon strands specifically laid for structural purpose.

The boat was also built without a spinnaker chute as the spinnaker was led back to bags similar to Fireball arrangement. Ollie Houseman the current owner might be able to advise on how his crew is getting on with this system?

This is a link to Fibrefusions web site and the Merlin in question which shows in more detail the structural arrangement.
