Unfortunately whilst rigging my Merlin today an unfortunate incident happened...... my jib halyard has worked its way out of the mast!!!! Is there a tried and tested method to re thread the halyard into the mast?
Regards Martin

Get a length of 1X19 wire Shroud thickness and use this as a rodent (mouse) and get some thinish copper wire (Welding wire does fine) bend into a hook to fish for the ends, you may have to take the sheaves out a length of string attached by tape to the wire (mouse) will make this easier use this to reeve a line and then pull the haliyard through or you may be able to pull the haliyard through without this. Then keep the wire and hire it the other sily herberts who do the same thing!

Also, if the spin halyard is fine, then take the jib sheave out and hook out the spin halyard or main halyard, and use insulating tape, then use the other halyard to pull down the jib one. If you see what I mean!

P.s. for hooks I normally cut up and bend a wire coat hanger (not having access to welding rods)
