Topic : 3330 Nice Legs

Just bought 3330 'nice legs' today off the site and as I'm not a member yet would somebody mind checking their yearbook to furnish me with any details, D.O.B. etc.
Has anybody any experience of sailing the nice legs design?

Regards Martin.

Hope you enjoy sailing 3330, and welcome to the fleet!

There are some details about Nice Legs in the design guide (see link), but she was designed by Ian Holt and built by Guy Winder in 1983. I think I'm right in saying that she was the only boat built to this design, but she probably has a fair bit in common with the subsequent Holt designs, the most successful development being the Canterbury Tales.

Thanks for the swift reply, the boat is named Nice legs as well as being the design, are you saying this was the only nice legs design boat made? It seems to be in first class condition and has subsequently been deck stepped. Can't wait to get her on the water.
Thanks again, Martin

It is the only Nice Legs design ever built.

Initially it was set up quite weirdly with a big radiused track for a self tacking jib and was quite slow. However as the set up got more conventional the boat got faster and has had some good results over the years.

Back in the early/mid 1990's I enjoyed several years crewing this boat, both inland and on the sea at several ST meetings and club racing. In medium to strong winds she was very fast upwind and down - easily competitive against Canterbury Tales of that vintage. However, she was much less successful in lighter winds... At that time it had a 'ramp' system for the mast - not sure how performance may have changed now being deck-stepped.
