Hunts Vintage Open 2006 |
Sadly only six Merlins came to the start line for the vintage event on 13th May.
Perhaps we have rather more Liverpool and West Ham supporters in the fleet than we thought!
Three races were sailed all in a gentle force 2 to 3 wind – ideal conditions for the vintage/classic boats.
The first race was won rather convincingly by Rick Benson (Cam SC).
Further down the fleet, racing was much closer and Mervyn Allen (Ranelagh SC) was just able to hold off Tim Bury (Banbury SC) to
snatch second place.
After lunch the wind had freshened slightly and in the second race Rick Benson was again victorious but this time it took him longer to stamp his authority on the fleet. A nail biting finish saw Mike Liggett (Hunts SC) again deny Tim Bury a second place. The third race was another win for Rick although Mervyn had Kate hunting him very hard towards the finish.
