Topic : Bramblemet yesterday

Did anyone else spot the two (alleged) gusts recorded on Bramblemet in the Solent yesterday? One at 08.45 at 1200 knots and one at 14.00ish at 1309 knots..

Would you hoist the kite?????

Well it felt like 1200kts yesterday down at Hamble!
One of the gusts was big enough to flip a Merlin down in the boat there, sadly there was damage done to the gunwale.
If the owner reads this...........sorry pal, I'd have looked to put it back on the trailer but by then it was beginning to blow hard (but not yet 1200 kts) but by then the car park at Hamble was starting to look like an island....so I got out before the water would have come over the wellies.

More 1200 kts forecast for tomorrow!

That is the reading on the printout Graham, suspect if that had really happened the Bramblemet recording widgets would no longer be attached to the pole and the pole not attached to the Solent - possibly most of the Solent attached to Lee-on-Solent.

Another storm with a big build-up from the BBC for a couple of days beforehand that didn't quite live up to it. And all because Mr Fish said we wouldn't get a hurricane in 1987.

I usually find the average of four weather sites isn't wrong and BBc, Met Office, Metcheck and WindGuru all forecast bigger winds on Wednesday!

XCweather's also usually ok, but for a bit longer range and further afield try the one below. You need to play around with the forecast base time and understand isobars though.
I believe a meter per second is about 1.9 knots.

Either way, it looks pretty breezy!

I was on the beach at Hayling several times during the day and would say that it was reguarly over 60knts in the morning. The sea wall at the golf club was over topped continuously. Langston was flooded up to wheel tops both the Ship and Royal Oak Flooded, Northerny Road flooded and closed. Emsworth road shut due to overtopping. Left the windsurfing gear in the van !!
